A Night of Goodbyes!

You must all be thinking "what is happening right now? Rachel's actually posting something!?"
I know, I know! It's been forever. For that I apologize, but I thought I'd better get my butt into gear and start posting again before I leave for America (which is in FIVE DAYS by the way)!

Saturday night was an emotional one for sure. Sinead and I had our leaving party at my house with most of our friends from school. It was our last big get together (read: excuse to drink lots and eat too much junk food) with everyone before we go, and it was awesome. It was also themed "no cups" so everyone had to drink out of odd things like jars, vases and teapots. There was even a baby bottle and a child's gumboot!

My friend Sam came down from Auckland specially for the party and she helped me all day with the arduous task of baking and decorating 36 cupcakes, as well as attempting homemade pretzels. The pretzels were incredibly difficult to make, and didn't look too pretzel-y when we were done, but apparently tasted pretty good!

Notice we went for an America theme for the cupcakes.

Yum!!

I had such an amazing time celebrating with everyone. I did get a little bit emotional when the time came to say goodbye to everyone though. I think it finally set in that I wouldn't see these beautiful faces for a whole year...

Gotta love the Polaroid camera! Thanks Alanna for this awesome photo.

I'll miss everyone here so much! Except Sinead on the end - she's coming with me!

The lovely Sam, who helped me all day

Most of all I'm gonna miss this lovely lady! My bestest friend Lorry
...and the beautiful Alanna in the centre here.

There were a ton more photos, but too many to put them all here!
I can't believe that this time next week I'll be starting a job at Disney World!
Until next time...

ConGRADulations to Me!

Hello everyone!

I'm a very happy chappy today, as I officially graduated University yesterday! It was a long day, but so worth it. It was great seeing everyone again and seeing how much people have achieved in three short years.
It was also pretty awesome wearing the robes and trencher for the day - although we weren't allowed to throw the trencher in the air, which was a little bit of a killjoy!

Here are some pictures of the day:

Here's me looking all snazzy in the robes, official degree in my hand!

I wanted a cheesy 'hats in the air' photo, so Dad took this one of Sinead and I.

I'm very proud of myself for completing my degree - which I've forgot to mention is a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Psychology - even though I still have no idea what I want to do in the future. Hopefully I will have some sort of revelation while I'm overseas!

That's it for today! Next up, my 21st!

A bit of Irish Charm!

On Friday I got the opportunity to see one of my absolute FAVE bands perform live! I was so super excited that they had come back to New Zealand, as the last time they came in 2008, it was an R18 show and I wasn't old enough.

So behold, photos from the amazing concert that was The Script!

I have some videos of my favourite songs, but for some reason they are not uploading properly. They all had rather shaky filming anyway, as my friends and I were constantly getting shoved around by people trying their hardest to get in front of us. (They didn't succeed. Try again next time losers).

Hopefully I'll be able to upload the videos sometime soon. In the meantime, here are a few more photos. The photos are mainly of Danny. Forgive me, he's just too beautiful. Plus, I love me some Irish accent!

March Obsessions!

Hello Lovelies!
This is when I write a post about everything I've been listening to, eating, watching, wearing, and most of all, OBSESSING over for the past month!
I missed February Obsessions, so I'm going to go hard out on this one. You're in for a treat. Hopefully.

March Obsessions

Music Obsession: Still 'Halcyon' by Ellie Goulding! If you haven't listened to this album yet, drop what you're doing and go check it out! If you've only got time for one song, I recommend track number 2 called 'My Blood'. Its spectacular.
Movie Obsession: I just saw 'Oz The Great and Powerful'. Aside from the few cheesy moments, I thought it was such a fun and exciting movie. And the effects were amazing. I want to live in Oz (but then again, who doesn't?)
Book Obsession: I just started 'The Book Thief' by Markus Zusak. I'm only a few pages in, but I'm enjoying it already. That's why its here - a future obsession prediction.
Food Obsession: It's technically a type of drink, but its simply divine. Perfect on a chilly day while snuggled up on the couch.
Clothing Obsession: My thing lately has been maxi dresses. Currently awaiting this purple one in the mail. It will be perfect for my long flight to L.A, as its soft and stretchy material.

I've saved the best til last....

T.V Obsession: GAME OF THRONES! Season 3 is back this week, and I am so amped! Just seeing this simple promo is enough to get me all excited. Furthermore, I've just seen these game of thrones themed pint glasses on the interwebs. I must have them!!!

What are you loving this month? I'm always keen for future obsessions!

Disney Update!

Time for another Disney update.

Right now I'm sitting around, anxiously awaiting the arrival of my official Disney welcome package. The welcome package will have all of the information we need to sort out our Visa, as well as our medical insurance for when we are in the states.
When the welcome pack arrives it will all feel so much more official! I can't wait. It should be arriving in April, so that's not far off at all.

I thought to pass the time, I'd get all involved in the Disney Challenge again. I had previously got up to number 5, and then failed miserably at keeping up to date with it,
Right, so lets pick it back up!

Day 6: Your favourite animal.

It's safe to say that this little guy is by far my favourite animal. He's just so adorable!! But I do have a second that I just had to include out of love:

It's Figaro the Cat!  I'm neutral about Cleo the fish.

Day 7: Your favourite sidekick:

This one was a little bit more difficult, so again, I've decided upon two. Well, technically it's four, but only two movies:

Made even more cool by the fact that Robin Williams is his voice :)
So there you have it, a couple more Disney favourites!

Have a magical day!

I can save your life......Or at least try to!

Hello everyone. Long time no blog. Like looooooong time.
I have no definitive explanation as to why I've been so slack on the blog front. I think it's actually just been pure laziness. And lack of good life stories.

But.....I now have an exciting story! Woohoo.

Last week, I attended an Emergency First Aid training course as part of my work training. It was a whole day of putting random people I've never met into the recovery position, doing CPR on an adult dummy, a child dummy, and a little baby dummy; and practising bandaging up difficult injuries. For the bandaging part, we have to split into groups and decide on an injury that would be hard to deal with. My group went with the ear, and some poor guy named Damian had to sit looking like a dork with a massive bandage around his head.
So, a few days ago, I received my certificate in the mail, which officially makes me a trained First Responder! I'm also now a nominated first aider for my work, which makes me a little nervous, but I doubt that anything will ever happen.

...Touch wood.

Official proof of my lifesaving skills:

So, there you have it. I can at least attempt to save your life If you are ever dying.
I'm quite proud of myself actually, for finally learning a new skill that is actually an incredibly valuable thing to know.

Do any of you lovely readers know first aid? Have you ever had to save someone's life? I'm quite terrified of the day that I might have to...

Disney Auckland Meet Up

Hello!

Hope you are having an excellent weekend so far. I definitely am!

Yesterday (Saturday 26th) I road-tripped to Auckland with Sinead to meet up with some of the other people from New Zealand who are going to Disney in August. I was a little but nervous, as spending a whole day with randoms I've never met isn't really my jam.

But... it ended up being really awesome!

We were expecting a group of about 10 people, but there ended up only being 5 of us. Looking back, this was actually a good thing, as we got to have a proper conversation with everyone individually throughout the day.

We wen't for lunch at Sal's Pizza, which is authentic New York pizza. We shared a whole pizza between the 5 of us, and had two massive slices each. After that we went to Starbucks for frappucinos, and then headed down to Silo Park and chilled out listening to some live music and watching a bit of the busking festival.

All in all, it was a really good day meeting everyone. It kind of felt like I'd known the girls for ages by the end of the day, which is quite crazy. They were all lovely girls and we plan on meeting up again sometime soon. Hopefully more people will come to the next one!

Photo's to come.

Have a great weekend!
